Adam Niewood brings his unique saxophone sound to the Gullifty’s stage on Friday, Sept. 14, headlining an exciting “Jazz at Gullifty’s” schedule in September.
Niewood’s impeccable musical pedigree – his father is saxophonist Gerry Niewood, his mother classical pianist and clarinetist Gurly Niewood – has been a key to his precocious accomplishments. Even before earning a Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance from Manhattan School of Music in 2005, he released his first recording with the group SBW. He also co-produced a CD featuring his father as leader, served as a professor at Montclair State University and refaces and customizes woodwind mouthpieces.
We’re pleased to offer live jazz four consecutive evenings – Wednesday through Saturday – each week. Wednesdays feature venerable Pittsburgh saxophonist Kenny Blake leading a jam session that could include anybody or everybody. Wednesday and Thursday shows begin at 9 p.m. and are offered without cover charges. On Fridays and Saturdays, performances get underway at 9:30 p.m. and carry a $10 minimum.
